Modern Korean for Christmas Eve

The gf and I had a late Christmas Eve dinner at Moim in Park Slope, Brooklyn. The space was dimly lit and was relatively narrow but long. Candles on the tables and hanging bulbs gave the restaurant a touch of elegance, and wood paneling and the sparse decor added a modern Asian feel. Now and then, lights in the adjacent room turned on and off for some reason, and we could see that there was a patio for outdoor seating.

It was our first time there, and we quickly felt comfortable. It was nice and warm, a touch romantic, and not too expensive. The bill came out to about $58 and included two beers, two entrees, an appetizer, and a cup of tea in the end. We used a $20 coupon that I had won early this year from @TasteofKoreaNYC by quickly tweeting something, so we forked out about $50 including tip. Not bad, at all.

We noticed the Christmas music as we sat down. Three small servings of kimchee dishes came first. We liked the black beans in the center. I thought it was kind of sweet; the gf thought it was salty. Perhaps it was both. The Pa Jun (Scallion pancake with seafood) came next. Then we shared a Bi Bim Bop with marinated pork and a chicken dish with potatoes and zucchini. The serving sizes were perfect; we were full but not stuffed. We left with satisfied bellies and taste buds.

It's always nice to discover places well worth our meager budget. Had it not been for the coupon, we probably wouldn't even have thought of going there. But we're glad we did.
